Clad in brown, navy, and grey, all three iterations of New Balance Shoes Red -year-old silhouette seem perfect for Fall. Yet, shades of green, burgundy, and fuchsia across this forthcoming mini-capsule suggest these pairs may arrive before leaves start changing colors. Each pair of the 991 features a construction fans of the model have come to know and love, and are stamped with a Union Jack accompanied by “MADE IN ENGLAND” text behind the plush tongue. ABZORB-infused sole units forgo any of their respective pair’s aforementioned hues in favor of their inaugural arrangement: white towards the forefoot, slight-yellowing near the heel, and exposed cushioning in-between.
Coming in a vibrant mix of materials, the shoe is mostly dominated by delicate pigskin suede. New Balance Shoes For Men branding is embroidered at the top of the tongue over a crisp white cotton base, complemented by flat laces of the same shade. Contrasting the clean details, gray paneling appears along the upper collars, heel counter and toebox in a mix of mesh and nubuck, while New Balance’s “N” logo is stamped at the sidewalls over a dark olive section. Below it is a curved pumpkin-toned mudguard that’s been reinforced with double-stitched seams. All of these details sit atop an articulated midsole that’s been equipped with ABZORB cushioning technology for optimal support.
After dropping off a New Balance Shoes On Sale model with ominous blue and gray hues, New Balance elevates the design of its trusty running shoe with a royal colorway. The newest iteration sees the shoe’s white mesh upper overlaid with premium pigskin suede featuring heather gray and navy in a color-blocked aesthetic, accented by red details along the heel and logo. The brand’s notable reflective logo appears on the side with “991” markings on the heel in contrasting red, while the tongue includes an embroidered emblem and a “Made in England” tag with the Union Jack on the interior. Complete with an ENCAP sole unit with ABZORB cushioning that runs throughout the shoe, the shoe deftly exhibits a clean design while staying true to the silhouette’s perennial reputation.
The New Balance 991 Grey Navy appropriates the Union Jack inspired with the same level of construction. The bolder shade, however, only appears in seldom as it affixes to the “991” embroidery at the heel, the panel above, the sole just barely, and the tongue branding; mudguards then dye to blue while the rest stays neutral. Different mostly in its oversized “N” logo, the 670 covers the forefoot and heel wrap in the cool tone while finishing at select details with the complement and the tread with a fan favorite gum bottom.
